CAD Collections FAQ

Common questions about receiving CAD through Interac e-Transfer.

What is CAD collection via Interac e-Transfer?

Interac e-Transfer is Canada's real-time payment network, used by virtually every Canadian bank. Fincra's CAD collection product lets you receive Canadian Dollars from Canadian payers directly into your Fincra CAD wallet using an Interac-enabled email address that we issue to you.

Who can use CAD collections?

Both Individual and Corporate merchants registered on Fincra and approved through our CAD onboarding process.

What is an Interac email?

This is a unique email address that we assign to you in the format [email protected]. Share this address with anyone who needs to pay you in CAD. They send an Interac e-Transfer to that email, and the funds are automatically credited to your Fincra CAD wallet.

Do I need a Canadian bank account to receive CAD?

No. Your Interac email handles inbound CAD payments. Funds are held in your Fincra CAD wallet, which you can then convert to other supported currencies.

How do I get started?

  1. Request a CAD collection account through the API or Merchant Portal.
  2. Your Interac email ([email protected]) is generated and linked to your profile.
  3. You receive a notification confirming you are ready to collect.

How does a payer send me money?

They log into their Canadian bank's online banking or app, initiate an Interac e-Transfer, and enter your Interac email as the recipient.

Does the payer need to answer a security question?

No. Your Interac email is registered for Autodeposit. Funds are credited to your CAD wallet automatically, with no security question for the payer to set and no manual acceptance required from you.

How quickly does the money arrive?

Interac e-Transfer is near real-time for most Canadian banks. Most transfers are credited to your CAD wallet within minutes.

What currencies can payers send?

Payers send CAD only. Interac e-Transfer is a Canadian rail and only supports Canadian Dollars.

Where does my collected CAD go?

Collected CAD is credited to your Fincra CAD wallet. It does not auto-convert to another currency on receipt. You decide when and how much to convert.

Can I hold CAD indefinitely?

Yes. Your CAD balance remains in your wallet until you choose to convert it.

Can I see my CAD balance and transaction history?

Yes. Your CAD wallet balance and incoming collection history are all visible in your Merchant Portal and retrievable via API.
