Memory usage suddenly through the roof

My browser (Chrome) is suddenly using over 8GB of RAM with only 5 tabs open. I’ve disabled all extensions and cleared the cache, but the problem persists. Task manager shows the "GPU Process" is the main culprit. Question: Does this indicate a problem with my graphics card drivers, or is there a specific Chrome flag I can disable to fix this memory leak?
